Jack loves his morning cereal. Jack also loves to drink the milk from his morning cereal. This got me thinking:
Do you drink the milk at the bottom of the cereal bowl?

CSA Helper?!
I'm a little surprised. Jack has been very unhelpful on CSA day (hence a lack of posed produce photos). He wants to take bites out of everything, tomato, apple, peach.... you get the idea. So this week to my shock and amazement when I got home I geared up for a screaming and wrestling match while I try to take the food away from him and put it away.
I unzipped the bag and carried some apples over to the fruit bowl, when I turned around Jack was standing next to me looking up, holding a peach in his outstretched hands.
I, of course, say "Good job. Thank you!"
He runs to get the next one. Ok, Awesome! So together we unloaded the produce into the basket, and into the fridge. I didn't dare attempt to take a pic of the produce but I did get one of my helper as he continued to play 'unpack'.

Playing catch-up
This weekend we installed new energy efficient windows in the whole house. I was SHOCKED that we got through it all in one weekend. It was SO much work (and that was before we realized we had to re-frame every. single. window. So we're done and the inside of the house is cleaned up (there was dry wall dust everywhere) and the inside of the windows look a mess and the outside of the windows look all fancy and new. There is garbage on the deck and garbage under the deck. We still have to re-dry wall 7 of the 9 windows (we've done 2) so there's spackle, tape and sheet rock up to my eyeballs.
But hey, we now have windows that A. actually open (because some of them did not before) B. will save us tons of money on heating and cooling costs C. will make our house more appealing to a buyer in a few years and D. look shiny and new!
A special thank you to my parents for being our weekend warriors yet again!!

Weekend Review
We went to the beach.
We dug a hole.
And made it ADA compliant. Please note the ramp for entry and exit.
Went sailing on the new Hobie Cat.

And as always, had a fantastic time. GiGi and PaPa were so much fun that Jack talked about them for most of the drive home! We also planned our next project weekend... and this coming weekend we're going to get started on the new window installation. I will now spend the next the week in my normal excited and anxious pre-reno state.

In Hiding
This morning we built a fort. It seemed like the thing to do. Here are some tips I learned, it's been a while since I built a fort so I made some mistakes.
Lighter sheets are better than heavy blankets to make a roof.
Pillows are the brick and mortar of any good fort.
Furniture is your friend.
Parenting FAIL.

Today at Jack's doctor's appointment they measured him standing up instead of laying down. He is now 2 inches shorter than he was before. We shrunk him. I asked the doc to measure him laying down. He did not grow 1 millimeter. FAIL. Jack weighs 29 lbs. That's a FAIL for mommy's back. OUCH!
IRS FAIL.
I'm not shy about not loving government agencies (yes I'm still a Dem. in spite of this), especially lazy employees of said agencies. Well, the trained monkey who was inputting our 2007 tax data clearly took a lunch break in the middle of the job because the first half of our reportings were entered in right and the second half was essentially forgotten. About 2 months ago we got a letter from the IRS telling us that we could choose to pay the 2,500 we owe them upfront or over time. Um, no. So we resubmitted all our information with a cover letter and highlighted the areas that were skipped by this data entry orangutan. We just got a letter today saying we owe them essentially DOUBLE the original amount. Apparently whoever entered in our corrections also did not complete elementary school and is unable to properly use a keyboard. What this second person has done is essentially entered all out re-sent information as NEW capital gains information and they're trying to stick us with double the bill. I'm not saying the IRS sucks or anything, I'm just saying the IRS SUX. I mean how hard is it to COPY numbers into a data field?!?!

Date Night
This afternoon Matt and I went out to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and also enjoyed a very grown up dinner (which we ate with our hands). Emily 3 was our sitter. Jack went to bed when we got home from the birthday party and slept till 5:15! Even though they didn't get much awake-time together he was so sad when Miss Emily left that he cried. Then he ran to the window and when he watched her get into her car he cried some more. So cute!
Now I'm off to enjoy some couch snuggles.

Book
I've had my nose in a book lately. So I'm asking this question: When you read a book how do you know where to pick up when you need to put it down? Bookmark? Folded page? Or are you like my husband and you can close a book in the middle of a chapter and remember what page you were on and what paragraph you just finished?
Weird, huh?
