Not that I'm trying to jinx myself... but I think switching Jack's
nap times is actually working! Yesterday I successfully kept him happily awake
until 11:00am. When he went down for his nap he fell asleep immediately. He slept until 1:45! I'm bummed that I will probably be missing moms group for quite a while because he'll be
asleep during our normal meeting time, but if I get 3 hours free in the middle of the day to eat a normal lunch I say it's worth it!

congrats! i think it will be difficult to get together for a little while as all the babies change their schedules. i hope he keeps to your new routine!
Yay for sleeping babies!
Well, and the 3 pm time is a winner, too, I think! Yay for long naps!
I could probably switch to a 2pm-ish time frame. Jillian is still napping twice a day, mostly, but is definitely leaning toward a later and longer morning nap and a shorter, later afternoon nap.
I think we'll be switching to one nap before too long as well...
hey...what are the symptoms of needing just one nap?
Everything I read said that babies give up the morning nap or when they take the nap it's a 20 minute quickie. Jack was nap-striking or only taking a quickie nap in the afternoons. At first it was totally inconsistant like best 2 out of 3 and then it turned into no afternoon naps. After 3 weeks I hit google and realized he was probably dropping to one. I didn't attempt to switch his nap time until after his birthday and he lasted those 6 weeks ok. He's a much happier guy now so I guess it worked!
