What's that Lassie?

Not that I'm comparing my son to a dog, but... At this age he can communicate with me. It's up to me to figure out what it is he's trying to say."Mommy, put me in the stroller and take me for a walk to the Bagel place by the grocery store."

So we did. We walked the mile to the bagel place. I got a Kona Coffee, YUM! Then we walked back. On the way there I found about 7 cans and bottles and I just stuffed them below the stroller. Turns out the bagel place doesn't have recycling, the grocery store doesn't have recycling.... grrr... On the way back I collected more and more and more recycling. I'm not saying I don't trust people, it's just that I don't trust people to pick it up let alone recycle it. It's ALL recyclable.
By the end of the walk this was how much I collected. I'm not kidding. What's the matter with people?!

This is Jack showing me that he likes his new $10 picnic table. He might not know how he's supposed to use it, but he seems to find it amusing. Score! (I got this table on the Maryland Mommy website in the area for Buy/Sell and Trade. They have lots of great deals.)

It's not even about being green with all that stuff you collected. It's about, "How about not littering a-holes?!?". Seriously, I'm not advocating throwing that in the trash can when it can be recycled, but just throwing it on the ground?!? What ever happened to respecting your community??? Sorry to rant; I had a big conversation tonight about that with a friend of mine....

Great find! I was visiting a friend yesterday and they'd just scored a different version of the same table-- too funny!! And, by the way, I had a meeting with the environment yesterday and it thanks you for all your service! :-)

You are lucky to have fun places so close -- I guess I could always walk to the pawn shop and buy a gun or the trailer park supply store and buy who-knows-what!

question that I have been thinking about: I heard this week that China buys most of our recycled plastics, but the demand for that has dropped 68%...what are we going to do when we can't sell our plastics to anyone? someone needs to figure out how to use them here in the U.S. It would be sad to think that all the things that we "recycle" are just sitting in a landfill somewhere.

Those decking materials that are made of plastic (the wood looking stuff that you never have to paint or seal) that is made of recycled plastics. I can't wait to have a maintenance free, but that will have to wait for the next house.
