Normally I like antibiotics

My experience with antibiotics has always been a good one. But it's been a week since i finished the course of doxycycline and I feel really wiped. I've been having a reaction on my skin sometimes, a red itchy rash, but a cool compress makes it go away. I'm feeling kinda toxic, literally. (Don't worry, my dining room table is fine.) I'm trying to drink lots of water and eat detoxifying foods, but I fell all bleh. Fingers crossed that my system is back to homeostasis soon!

Hey, I came across your blog while searching for diet tips for Lyme disease - I am a mother of three little kids. I never found the tick either (didn't have a rash) and was finally diagnosed with Lyme two years after my onset of symptoms. I picked Lyme up in Northeast Maryland. Lyme has had a very serious impact on my life - I am determined to beat it. But, I feel compelled to tell you that three weeks of doxy doesn't always eradicate Lyme, even when caught right away. If you are still feeling lousy please continue to seek help. You can find a Lyme Dr. in your area and/or read Healing Lyme by Stephen Buhner and try some natural techniques on your own. Feel free to email me shelley.koch@gmail.com if you have any questions - I'm sure I could help you find a Lyme Dr. This is not a disease that you can sit back and hope will go away or get better. Please tenaciously advocate for your health.

Ditto what Shelley said! The disease has evolved quite a bit in the last 20 years and it takes more like 6-8 weeks of treatment instead. I would hate for you to go chronic! It is NO FUN! Unfortunately, most doctors have been taught 30 days and that is what they will stick with. If you contact www.ilads.org, they will recommend a Lyme-literate doctor who can treat you effectively.

In the meantime, to help detox...lots of water with lemon, skin brushing and detox baths (http://inthelymefight.blogspot.com/2011/07/round-7-daily-detox-baths.html). Yoga and meditation will help, but you already know that. :) Colonics are another route, which I haven't tried, but are supposed to be excellent for detox. Hope this helps! Good luck with everything!
