I met my husband online

True story.

I had just moved back to the DC Metro area from graduate school. When I went to bars I wanted to hang out with friends I already had, not make new ones. I wasn't likely to meet someone at work because I worked almost exclusively with married men, gay men and women. I didn't meet someone in college or graduate school. Sorry, to all the ex-boyfriends out there reading my blog, but you didn't make the cut (as if any of them read me, hah!).

So here I was, in a big city, single, and 'looking for love'. Now that I was employed I was looking for love- I was not interested, no matter how hot the hottie till I was started in my career. So I did what any self-respecting 21st century girl would do, I joined an online dating site. Specifically, eHarmony, in case you were wondering. My parameters were pretty broad, I was willing to date someone 2 years younger (22) or 8 years older (32), I was willing to date someone in Baltimore (especially because I went to college there), but not Richmond. I didn't narrow by race or religion. I will admit that I did only want to date other college graduates.

I was matched with about 50 guys. I messaged this one, because he looked cute and we went through the motions- questions about favorite foods, likes, dislikes, bla bla bla. We decide to IM, I don't have the attention span to stay in front of my computer so after about 5 minutes of that I gave him my phone number and we talked for about 4 hours (maybe more). We had our first date that weekend. We moved in together 3 months later. And now he his my husband, my film photography, computer, Mythbusters obsessed husband and I lurve him.

If you're old-school and thus scandalized by this I apologize, but if you know me in real life or are getting to know me through my blog you'll know that I don't waste time and that I'm... well... not one for tradition. Don't get me wrong I have huge respect for people who go that route, it's just not for me.

So, lets dish. How did you meet your husband?

I met my husband at swim practice when I was a junior in high school. So I was 15 years old.

Well, you know Field and I met on e-Harmony too. I think the story goes that he had just ended a relationship, went to a party (I think maybe your housewarming), got a little drunk and decided to try e-harmony because it had worked so well for Matt.

I'd like to pretend narcisistically that I had a hand in each of your romances ;-) j/k

Oh I remember that party well. I did my best mental kung fu on Field while he was drunk to get him to try it out. Turns out it didn't take much kung fu :D

Field is very suggestable.

That suggestibility comes in handy, I've got to admit.

In a bar. Yep. A bar. I will caveat that statement by saying that a mutual friend introduced us, or rather, set us up (a co-worker of mine and a former co-worker/at-the-time-roommate of his).
